The transport firm Arne Meyer from Hatten, Germany, just across the border from Oldenburg, recently acquired a double-axle steerable Pacton semi-flatbed with the SPD.238.C floor type. With a tongue weight of 18 tonnes and a gross axle weight of 20 tonnes, the semi-flatbed trailer offers a gross vehicle weight rating of 38 tonnes. Arne Meyer: “We decided to purchase a Pacton trailer because of the excellent customer service, the quality of the trailer, and the many available options.”
The family firm Arne Meyer Transporte GmbH - with 10 employees at the moment - has been active in the logistical and transport solutions branch throughout Europe for more than 23 years. With the best vehicles and trailers, professionally trained staff, committed drivers and friendly order processing at the office, the company always goes the extra mile for every client. At Arne Meyer Transporte, specialist transport is virtually a standard service, whether the load requires extra length, extra width or special heights.
That means the new trailer will definitely see multi-functional use. Arne Meyer: “The demands placed on the trailer stem from the full range of transport services that we strive to offer our clients. The trailer is built to serve a variety of purposes. We’re a small transport firm that has specialised in flexible and individual transport services. We work for several major energy companies in Germany and Europe, for whom we mainly deliver equipment for power generators and suppliers. That includes cable drums, transformers, Gitterboxes for small components, pallets, crates, gas pipelines, wooden masts, containers, aluminium pipes, building equipment and materials, and oversized loads.”
HIAB XS 3777R
The new semi-flatbed will be delivered in the company’s black-and-cobalt blue livery, with aluminium accents. The loading floor is 13.3 meters long, with a load height of 90 cm, and the gooseneck is around 4.20 meters. The chassis frame and gooseneck are built around two I-profile stringers connected by U-profile cross beams inserted every 43 cm. The gooseneck is reinforced for the installation of a heavy Hiab loader crane with a load capacity of 37 tonnes per meter, on a 1.5-meter track. Arne Meyer: “We asked Hiab Benelux from Meppel to install a Hiab XS 3777R EP-4 HiPro roller crane installed on the trailer for us.”
Custom solutions offer flexibility
The BPW air suspension has two rigid, low-maintenance axles with drum brakes, with a technical axle capacity of 10 tonnes each. Both axles are steered by Tridec hydraulic systems. The dual-air trailer is equipped with Goodyear 245/70 R17.5 RHT tyres and steel rims. The trailer has a 28 mm-thick hardwood floor, with no headboard. LED light fixtures are mounted all around the trailer. Custom accessories and options include items such as four stainless steel tool chests, four chock boxes, and tie eyes and stanchions positioned to the customer’s specifications. Other bespoke features include eight Laxo system container mountings for two 20-foot and one 40-foot container, a frame fixture for containers, bespoke supplemental lighting to the customer’s specifications, and black powder-coated wheels. Meyer: “These features offer flexibility, more effective handling, and multi-functionality. The trailer is prepared for our unique demands, so we can satisfy our clients’ specific needs.”
Individual specifications
The new Pacton trailer is a perfect addition to a modern fleet with a variety of combinations suitable for virtually any flexible and efficient transport assignment. Meyer: ‘We have four SZM trailers, two telescoping semi-flatbeds with crane lifts, two standard semi-flatbeds with a single crane lift, one low-bed and one platform trailer with sideboards. This will be our first Pacton trailer. We came across Pacton while searching the Internet for a new semi-flatbed with a roll crane. We would definitely recommend the Pacton company to others. We received excellent service, and our individual specifications were implemented perfectly.”
